Event promotes a more inclusive gaming industry

Tonight Arctic Game invites women (cis and trans), non-binary and queer to the Female Meetup. The event aims to strengthen networking and contribute to more diversity and inclusion in the game development industry.

"It's great that we were able to arrange this in Umeå. It's true that the gaming industry has become more inclusive, but it's still a male-dominated industry where there's a lot of work to be done and more voices need to be heard," says Stefan Eriksson, Community Manager for the local community Game Hub Umeå which is operated by eXpression.

During Female Meetup there will be mingling and panel discussions with Linn-Marie Edlund, Women in games ambassador/Amplifier Game invest, Fia Tjernberg, Wayfinder Games, Theres Hiltunen, Turborilla, Jenny Österlund, Game Boost and Frida Eriksson, Paradox Arctic.

eXpression Umeå is co-organising the event, which takes place in conjunction with the European Creative Industries Summit (ECIS23). The initiative is part of the Arctic Games gaming cluster's work to increase diversity and inclusion in the gaming industry in the north. Umeå municipality is also behind the initiative.
