Responsive, creative and flexible communication

Responsive, creative and flexible communication

On Wednesday 29 September, the same day as the relaxation of the corona pandemic restrictions, a strategic communication meeting was also held with representatives of the hospitality industry. Participants were Jerry Engström, Friluftsbyn, Anna Axelsson, Mat och Event/Forfoodies and Sara Gustavsson, Visit Umeå.

Panelists described that the pandemic period has been characterised by a difficulty in developing and following defined strategies. The work is rather portrayed as agile, edged by abrupt changes and high tempo. This, in turn, has demanded a high level of transparency towards customers and guests as well as employees within organisations and companies. Leadership, self-leadership and well-coordinated work teams have become more important than ever for communicative work, says Jerry Engström

Sara Gustavsson highlighted the importance of analysing the world around us, networking and good communication between companies and within their own networks, and pointed to new communication partnerships resulting from the current circumstances.

With the relaxation of restrictions on attendance at public gatherings, requirements on the size of parties in cafes and restaurants, and the removal of recommendations to work from home, the Anna Axelsson great joy. She says they are now more ready than ever to gear up. At the same time, all panelists pointed out that time for recovery and reflection is now needed.

The discussion was moderated by Annakarin Nyberg, project manager for the Future Sustainable Hospitality Industry, which is part of the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth's Knowledge Development initiative in the Corona region.
