Kickoff of the eXpress program
Among the participating ideas are interior decoration products for the kitchen, architects, and accessories.
On Tuesday afternoon, the first workshop of the eXpress program was celebrated with cake. The Pre-Incubator program eXpress consists of six workshops with business development in focus, including topics such as business models, corporate finance and branding.
18 businesses have been adopted to the program and many of the participating entrepreneurs are studying, or have recently completed their studies at Umeå University, and mainly at the art campus. Another part of the entrepreneurs has roots in the regional business community and another part has moved to Umeå from Stockholm and Barcelona to participate in the program. Common to all entrepreneurs’ business ideas is that they are within the cultural and creative industries.
“The opportunities in the labs here at Sliperiet attract many designers to come to the incubator,” says Oskar Riby, responsible business coach for the eXpress program.
The goal of the program
The goal of the program is to prepare the entrepreneurs for the business trip ahead and to create a framework for starting and running their own business. An important aspect of preparing entrepreneurs is to get the participants to go out and meet their potential users and customers to meet the market needs.
-We work from day one to get the entrepreneurs to go out and meet their intended users and customers to validate if there is an interest in the product they want to create and if anyone is willing to pay for this, says Joakim Bergbom business coach on eXpression Umeå.
The next workshop in the program is September 25th, which will focus on the entrepreneurs’ business models.
