F/ACTIVISTS WANTED - HERE'S HOW YOU CAN HELP CHANGE THE TEXTILE INDUSTRY!

F/ACT movement is established in Umeå and now you have the chance to become an f/activist. You get to express your love for fashion while being coached to make sustainable choices. The application is open from 18 May and you can find it at factmovement.se.

National F/ACT Movement project starts in September 2020 and ends in May 2021.

Why you should become a f/activist

The challenge is to avoid new clothing purchases during the period, while still being able to enjoy a smorgasbord of sustainable options. You will also become one of the ambassadors of the F/ACT Movement and the great values that the project stands for. Applications are open until 14 June.

As a factivist you get both the tools and the knowledge to challenge yourself and the fashion industry. You also become an ambassador for a more sustainable lifestyle.

This is a super exciting project that I am very proud to be involved in," says Anna Parry. It's natural for us at eXpression to lead the way in the societal transformation we need to make, and to do so with joy and clarity. I hope that the Umeånode of the project will be characterised by creativity, innovation and creative spirit; we will use all the great resources we have in the city both in terms of creative capital, well-known influencers in the field and resources in the form of SoftLabs and craftsmanship.

In addition, Umeå has the great advantage of being a multicultural city and I hope that this is reflected in the applicants to the project - I want to see a wide range of applicants of all ages and backgrounds with the common interest that you love to express yourself through the way you dress," continues project manager Anna Parry.

More about F/ACT Movement

the pilot project F/ACT Movement 2019, which was run by Science Park Borås, among others, received ten individuals, so-called f/activists, tried out more sustainable textile consumption. They were banned from buying new products for 6 months, and instead buy second hand, repair, and update their existing garments, so so-called remake. Their experience was shared via social media and quickly grew into a movement.

Now new and more individuals are to be recruited. municipalities around the country are involved in the project initiated by the Gothenburg region and Science Park Borås, with the Swedish Environmental Götaland Region as funders. The participating municipalities will organise activities focusing on sustainable fashion, and interested companies will be helped to switch to more circular business models. The idea is that private individuals coached to learn more about sustainable fashion options while at the same time inspire more consumers to try new ways to activate their wardrobe.
