SUSTAINABILITY - THE CORE OF THE SPRING FORMEX

SUSTAINABILITY - THE CORE OF THE SPRING FORMEX

Dwindling resources strengthen companies' ambition to rethink and think right, which is more important than ever - that companies are thinking sustainability is evident around the stands and lectures at this spring's Formex fair.

During the week, the 58th edition of the design and interior design fair Formex was held at Stockholmsmässan in Älvsjö. More than 800 exhibitors have been visited by over 20,000 visitors to do business, meet like-minded people and get the very latest in trends and news from the design world.
One of the clearest trends is that the sustainability debate that has been going on for years has found expression in corporate design.

- Over 2 billion people born in the 21st century will soon be among the world's top consumers, and businesses need to adapt accordingly. This target group has much clearer requirements for companies to be run in a sustainable and value-driven way. We call it Radical Creativity and it forms the core values of our company. It means using what we have to create change for the better," said Anna Parry, founder of Proto Proto.

To meet these sustainability trends, companies need to use materials that have already lived a life and find new uses for them. On Friday, Johanna Nyström, sustainability consultant and founder of the company Slow Fashion, gave a lecture on the topic of Slow Business, how to make money from sustainability.

- Sustainability in divided into three parts, environmental, social & economic sustainability. Economic sustainability creates the conditions for working with environmental and social sustainability, says Johanna.

There are several aspects companies need to consider to work sustainably and it is easiest if this is done from the start, Johanna continues. Companies need to actively work with the product life cycle in their business model. Examples of such work include recycling, reusing and reusing.

Several natural and durable materials were seen in stands around the fair, often combined with bright colours and geometric patterns to create powerful unique expressions.

The fair can be summed up by the phrase "Express yourself".
