NEW INITIATIVES TO SUPPORT UMEÅS BUSINESSES

NEW INITIATIVES TO SUPPORT UMEÅS BUSINESSES

As we face one of the greatest challenges of modern times, it is more important than ever to support and help each other. In the hope of inspiring and providing some much-needed energy, we've picked out a few gems from the bouquet of initiatives we read about almost daily. Individuals, organisations and businesses in Umeå are constantly finding new solutions, acting for the common good and showing leadership.

Per and Lars Åkerlund who runs the delicatessen Duå in Umeå are preparing for smaller visits from outside guests visiting Umeå, but they will try to use any quieter moments to plan for the autumn.

"We try to keep a cool head and make wise long-term decisions. But in addition to keeping purchases down, we're working hard to keep the business running as usual. We are communicating in newsletters and social media with our guests about all the activities we are doing this spring to keep the interest going. We have great regulars, together we will get through this and continue the fight for a better Umeå!"

Umeå Municipality and Entrepreneurs is launching a business helpline, an initiative aimed at companies seeking advice on how to reduce the financial impact of the new coronavirus. The aim is to raise awareness of the measures being created at national level and to share the experience and expertise available at Företagarna in Umeå and at local business advisors.

For example, companies can get help on how to apply for the available support measures. Or how to draw up action plans for cash flow, costs, income and staff. The company does not need to be a member of Företagarna to get advice.

Another fine example is the Facebook group Support your Umeå, with the artist Natalie Carrion as the initiator, where group members are encouraged to support Umeå's business community, build bridges and find collaborations that can help keep the city alive.
