STRONG RESEARCH COLLABORATIONS AND STUDENT CREATIVITY IN THE SHADOW OF THE CORONA CRISIS

STRONG RESEARCH COLLABORATIONS AND STUDENT CREATIVITY IN THE SHADOW OF THE CORONA CRISIS

eXpression Umeå works closely with researchers, teachers and students at the Umeå School of Economics. Among other things, research and development is carried out on network-based business models, so-called shared business models, which characterise business development in the creative industry.

Another research project being conducted is the purpose-driven, sustainable entrepreneurship in design, fashion and music, and how trade meets sustainable consumption. In-depth articles on all that is being done will follow in the spring.

For us at eXpression Umeå, the research collaboration means a lot, not least because we are an academic incubator. The research collaboration allows us to constantly reassess our processes and methods to provide the best business support to creators developing their sustainable businesses, says Marlene Johansson, CEO, eXpression Umeå.

Student participation also permeates the collaboration, such as the entrepreneurship course that all business students take. For two days last week it was loaded with creative ideas with over 230 students. Students presented their business ideas to a total of 15 experts for support in business development, financing and entrepreneurship. Everything was held via zoom. Some of the winning ideas offer creative responses to the current state of covid- 19 such as a service that offers exclusive experiences in the form of concerts and online.
