Uminova eXpression grows rapidly - strengthens with top expertise

Business incubator Uminova eXpression doubles its team. The incubator has gone from eight to twenty-four startups in a short time - and continues to grow.
- To meet the needs, we are recruiting three new employees to strengthen the team, says Marlene Johansson, CEO of Uminova eXpression.

During the year, Uminova eXpression has experienced a steady increase in demand for its services. In September, Marlene Johansson, former director of Sliperiet, took over as managing director, and now she is doubling the staff at eXpression with three additional employees: Johan Gustafsson, Oskar Riby and Samuel Isaksson.

Johan Gustafsson is the owner and CEO of the design company Struktur Design AB, which has enjoyed great success over the years. At Uminova eXpression i he enters the role of business coach.
- I look forward to being part of the team at eXpression. It's an incredibly competent team with great people. I will also remain at Struktur Design in combination with my role as a business coach and a teaching assignment at the School of Design, says Johan Gustafsson.

Oskar Riby has worked as the CFO of Venture Cup. In parallel with the new assignment, he will continue his involvement as an operating partner in Rivia Sports.
- I bring my experience of being an entrepreneur and my time at Venture Cup into my role as a business coach. It will be very exciting and fun to share what I have learned along the way and to help others take the next step in their business," says Oskar Riby.

Samuel Isaksson comes from a position as CEO and co-owner of Storspoven AB. Storspoven is a former incubator company that has emerged in collaboration with Uminova eXpression.
- All my professional life I have been working with and towards small and medium-sized enterprises in the creative field. It feels particularly good to be able to "pay it forward" today. In Storspoven, we have succeeded in spinning off a dozen or so companies through innovative business models that can now make a living from creating culture in Umeå. A work that the coaches here at eXpression have contributed to and pushed us in, says Samuel Isaksson.

- There is a boom of activity here. Above all, we see that we are building an environment that encourages and nurtures new collaborations between the creators and entrepreneurs who sit here. Johan, Oskar and Samuel are all sitting on top expertise that adds value to our companies along with the networks of industry experts that the companies are supported by. We now become an even stronger team going forward in a growing incubator," says Marlene Johansson.

Uminova eXpression - located in Sliperiet on the Arts Campus - has grown rapidly. In a short time, they have gone from eight to twenty-four companies in the incubator, all with different needs and at different stages. The breadth of the companies is great, with companies in fields such as architecture, design, art, IT, interaction design, media production and music. Among the alumni is Jessica Eriksson with the company Persikamy, winner of the Young Entrepreneur of the Year award at this year's Umeågala.
