Umeå Folkets Hus has chosen Ruben Ångqvist as this year's recipient of the Guldäpplet cultural grant. He runs the record label "It Is What It Is" and is part of the eXpression incubator. The prize includes a painting and SEK 30 000. which, according to the grant holder, goes straight into a new and secret prototype.
The Golden Apple has been awarded since 1986 and recognises artists who innovate their art forms. Ruben's work, which crosses the boundaries between technology and music, represents this spirit of innovation.
"I'm glad for the attention and will use the money for a prototype I'm working on. It's still a bit of a secret, but I'm looking forward to sharing it in the future," says a delighted Ruben Ångqvist.
The Golden Apple continues to support artistic development and innovation in Västerbotten. Read more about the scholarship on the Umeå Folkets hus website.
