MALENA HJERPE LAUNCHES DIGITAL SEWING PATTERNS VIA ETSY.COM FOR EVERYONE

Pattern designer and contractor Malena Hjerpe who runs the company Pattern by Malena, helps clothing companies to take a good fit for clothes and to find the right silhouette. She has worked as a pattern designer for H&M and Arket in Stockholm and Shanghai. Now Malena is launching her first digital sewing pattern with sewing instructions via Etsy.com, an online marketplace for handcrafted or self-produced products.

At present I have launched patterns for joggers for women, children and baby. A t-shirt will be available soon and a small summer collection is planned for the summer. The patterns are made in PDF format and you can buy them online and download them directly," says Malena Hjerpe. They are adapted so that both a beginner and an experienced seamstress can use my patterns.

Malena started in connection with the move to Umeå and is pleasantly surprised by the entrepreneurial city Umeå is.

Everyone is very helpful, happy to give tips and share their contacts and there are many people helping start-ups. I quickly came into contact with eXpression Umeå (thanks to a tip from a client) and being able to take part in the Creative programme has given me so much. I have listened to interesting lectures, attended many training sessions and had nice tablemates to take a coffee break with.

Cooperation between companies and sectors is something Malena strongly believes in and has this spring entered into a partnership with Malena Björndahl "MalenaMi" a big influencer from Finland with knowledge in social media and photography.

I had long followed Malena Björndahl and her blog www.malenami.com and really liked her imagery. She had also recently moved to Umeå, so I contacted her and asked if she would be interested in collaborating. She's been blogging and working in social media for 12 years," says Malena. The cooperation has been fantastic, I have received concrete advice, help and tips on how to work in the future. Now I have more knowledge and it feels easier to plan my work. And of course I got lots of nice pictures of MalenaMi to use in my channels. We also plan to do a CoLab and create a small collection together for the summer with sewing patterns for lovely linen clothes.

The patterns are for sale on the marketplace Etsy.com and are available in women's sizes EUR 32-56, children's sizes 92-140 and baby sizes 50-92.

After purchasing the pattern via Etsy.com, you can directly download it as a PDF file and print it on A4 paper. Then cut out the margins on two sides and tape or glue the sheets together. The pattern is layered in the PDF file and you can choose to print the pattern with or without a seam allowance and to print more or just your own size. There is also a sewing description where these steps are explained in more detail.
