Fashion-loving Umbrians needed for F/ACT Movement

F/ACT Movement is the movement for fashion lovers who want to build a sustainable wardrobe without compromising their passion for clothes and fashion. Through eXpression Umeå, a few Umeå residents get the chance to participate in this year's most exciting challenge. From September 2020 to May 2021, the accepted participants, the f/activists, will have access to a smorgasbord of fun workshops and exciting lectures that focus on the joy of fashion, from a sustainable perspective. The challenge? Shop no new clothes for nine months and share your journey on Instagram.

The textile industry is a major source of climate emissions and clothing production has a significant environmental and health impact. In the F/ACT Movement project, consumers will lead the way for a more sustainable fashion industry. Through inspiring workshops and lectures, participants from all over Sweden, known as f/activists, will be given new tools on how to easily build a sustainable wardrobe. In Umeå it is eXpression with Marlene Johansson and Annakarin Nyberg and Anna Moström, which runs the project.

Together with experts in a wide range of fields, participants will explore reuse, redesign, circularity and sustainability. At the same time, activities will be organised focusing on sustainable fashion and helping companies transition to more circular business models. Throughout the project, the focus is on the conscious consumer and the fact that the textile industry needs to change to meet global, national and regional sustainability goals.

Umeå and eXpression have fantastic resources in terms of creative capital, well-known influencers in the field, SoftLabs and craftsmanship. We will use all that to give our f/activists a really fun and creative journey to make their fashion interest more sustainable. And inspire others to do the same. Anna Moström, Project Manager.

The last day to register to become a f/activist is 14 June..
