The Golden Seed Award has been awarded to Mina Rostami and Zeo Löwenhielm this year, which is an honour for graduate students at Umeå Institute of Design who have distinguished themselves through work in social, economic and especially ecological sustainability. The prize is awarded by the UID Climate Group at Umeå Institute of Design. Here are this year's recipients!

Mina's project addresses crisis management and emergency situations when internet connectivity fails. By creating 'Safe Zones' around residential areas and public buildings, the system offers WiFi access for downloading an 'Emergency Kit'. This kit contains essential information and guidance for dealing with crises, from finding necessary resources to navigating disaster situations.

"Imagining a Sustainable Life" by Zeo Löwenhielm, graduate student in industrial design:

Zeo's project explores how individuals can impact the environment through their lifestyle choices, using a digital interactive tool that explores the planetary boundaries. The project aims to inspire individuals to create and pursue sustainable life goals through interaction and play, providing a deeper understanding of what needs to change for a sustainable future.

The Golden Seed Award is a prestigious award that UID Climate Group are awarded to recognise and reward outstanding students in sustainable design, and to raise awareness of sustainability in all areas of design. This initiative aims to inspire and educate future designers to create positive change and contribute to a more sustainable future.
