Kaaos Kaamos presents new show at Swedish fair

Subcase is one of the leading circus fairs in the Nordic countries, giving Swedish and international organisers and industry supporters the opportunity to discover contemporary circus, meet performers and learn more about the art form. On 16 February, the Umeå-based new circus company Kaaos Kaamos will present its new show there - in the hope of convincing more funders and organisers to invest in the project.

Kaaos Kaamos was founded in 2016 and is a group of acrobats with different backgrounds who met after their training in France, Finland, Sweden and Belgium. Their first performance "Babel, Forget" immediately reached a large audience and played between 2017-2021 in fourteen countries.

The company is now in the midst of planning and preparing an exciting new project.

In this new performance, Kaaos Kaamos asks what effect the great night, darkness and cold have on us humans.

The hope is that the show will tour the Nordic countries and the rest of Europe. Exactly how that will look is still a bit of a question mark, says Erik Glas, who leads Kaaos Kaamos.

Using a cradle, a large rectangular frame, they swing, throw, fly and catch each other, creating a universe where even the difficult and scary have their place.

The plan is also to create a clear connection with the audience by inviting the spectators to participate in the story that emerges.

We hope to have a higher level of co-creation. We want to test and explore what is okay for people. It's new ground for us. It will be a walking performance where the audience will be led in a space and be really close while we perform arts and build human pyramids,' says Erik.
