The EP Prologue is the result of Magda Andersson's crowdfunding campaign that took place during the autumn and winter of 2022. This is the first time Magda Andersson has released music in English and she does so in the form of her alter ego Magda Novels. The EP was recorded and produced by Mattias Eklund in studio Farkosten and the premiere recording will take place on 6 April in the Netherlands. Magda has been part of eXpression Umeå's incubator programme until the end of 2022/2023.
I consider Magda Novels to be my shadow self, a part of myself that roams around in secret. When I write the songs, I try to let the subconscious come out no matter how nice or ugly the thoughts are, without censoring or blocking. I want to write from the place of the human being that creates dreams, instincts, irrationality and abstraction, says Magda Andersson.
The music is inspired by artists such as PJ Harvey, Patti Smith, First Aid Kit and Joni Mitchell.
"I would describe the sound as dark Americana with pop melodies and a rock n' roll attitude," Magda continues.
