Anna Parry, co-founder of the Umeå-based international design studio Proto Proto, is holding an interactive digital workshop with Svensk Form for the country's members on 20 May. The workshop "Creativity in the crisis" will give creators both tools and inspiration to rise above the current circumstances and explore new opportunities together. The message is clear: there is a time after the corona pandemic and by letting the creative take place, we can create a sustainable future.
- I hope that the workshop will leave participants with a positive sense of opportunity, without minimising the fact that many creators have been hit extremely hard by the crisis. Anna Parry, co-founder of the international design studio Proto Proto. I want to show the joy and hope that can come from taking some control over your circumstances and your future. The workshop will provide the energy and insight to be able to identify which doors have been opened and at the same time remind us that creativity means both rethinking and seeing opportunities in changing circumstances.
While the current focus is on saving lives, through heroic medical interventions, and supporting businesses with support packages and crisis management, the 'Creativity in Crisis' initiative aims to highlight new opportunities arising from the coronavirus pandemic. These include the potential for structural changes in behaviour that can contribute to solutions in another ongoing crisis, the climate. This may involve more remote work, changes in travel habits and greater involvement in civil society, but regardless of the area, creativity and creativity must play a central role in development work - and Sweden's creators are needed for this.
- All the good initiatives that are now taking place in the context of the Corona crisis also need to be translated with the same high degree of creativity, innovation and new thinking in the work for the climate. So let's use this decade of turmoil to solve our common problems with new, sustainable methods and set the right course for the future," says Mr Kane. Mats Widbom, CEO of Svensk Form.
The collaboration with Svensk Form is part of Proto Proto's new initiative, Proto Projects, which focuses on creative workshops, interactive seminars and national and international collaborations. Proto Proto's keywords are empowerment through design, and with this new initiative, the design studio wants to create the conditions for new collaborations and reach further with its message.
- Creativity is exactly the superpower we need to create a more equal and sustainable future. We believe in and work for a fair world, where quality always comes before quantity and the creative person is the norm. We believe that creativity must be a matter of course when developing all parts of society. Through Proto Projects, we hope to establish more exciting collaborations that contribute to spreading both creativity and action," concludes Anna Parry.
