The dream came true in her husband's workshop

The dream came true in her husband's workshop

A technology freak with access to a workshop, and a creative mind. Can it get any better when a brand new craft is about to be developed and see the light of day? Today Jessica Persson is releasing her multifunctional pot "Blickfång", made at her husband Hans Persson's workshop in Uusimaa.

When Jessica Persson was considering which manufacturer she wanted to work with in eXpression Design, she not surprisingly landed on Hamek Verkstad, where her husband Hans has been CEO for a few years now.

Hamek Workshop is located next to the Ångerman River in Uusimaa and here everything from painting and blasting to welding and laser cutting is done. It is the company behind the popular "Raketspisen", among other things. It was mainly the laser-cut sheet metal technology that got Jessica going this time. She and Hans have created together before, but mostly for home use, such as outdoor pots, stove tops and splashbacks.

I have the ideas while Hans has the technical knowledge and knows what is possible to actually do," says Jessica.

And it's been a fun time for both of them, with eXpression Design. In his workshop as well as at home in the house in Örnsköldsvik, ideas have been bumped and grinded, and thoughts have been allowed to fly freely.

I had a lot of ideas that needed to be narrowed down, loose thoughts that I tested out. I did a lot of sketches, even though I can't draw at all," says Jessica, smiling.

"Blickfång" is multifunctional, it can be a pot, a vase or a candle holder.

There is a lot of playfulness in it. You can change it but still keep the style," says Jessica.

It is made of corten steel that has been roasted and lacquered.

It's taken a while to get it right and it's been a few turns back and forth before I'm satisfied. But I've avoided long, tough joints when working with Hans.

Hans agrees.

It's cool when you know so many different things and can work together. It's just been an advantage to know each other so well.

Several of his colleagues have also been involved in the production of Jessica's product.

They think it's been great fun, it's something we haven't done before," he says.

It was the High Coast Creative association, of which Hans is a member, that made Jessica realise that creation could actually be more than just a hobby.

I have been following the association for a while and am very impressed by everything that is done there.

Today, she is happy that she dared to take the plunge and go for it.

It's been valuable to have a network of creators to bounce around with and I've learned a lot from their processes too. eXpression Design is really a great platform.

Jessica is a social worker at heart but trained as a florist last year. She is the creator of the brand Rum och Flora, where she inspires on instagram to decorate with flea markets and reuse. She has a half-time job, and can devote the other half to creating.

I've always had a lot of creativity around me and I'm proud of myself, it's a great feeling to hold your own product. It's a dream come true and now I feel like I've found my thing.
