Avion gets a giant new work by artist and illustrator Jessica Arevärn, better known by her pseudonym Persikamy. The 96-square-metre mural will be created on site at the mall and visitors will have the opportunity to follow each little brushstroke for 19 days starting on 12 March.
- Since we opened Avion, we've been looking for the perfect collaboration to create a clearer connection to Umeå. We've had an idea to do a giant painting and therefore it feels extra nice that we are now doing it together with Persikamy, says Mia Eskilsson, Centre Manager Ingka Centres.
The live creation of the artwork will allow visitors to be inspired throughout the process. It will also be possible to follow the work via social media.
The person behind the work is Jessica Arevärn but is perhaps better known by her alias Persikamy. In recent years she has worked as an artist and illustrator on various commissions.
- I felt right away that I wanted to be a part of this. I love meeting people and sharing my passion. I'm delighted that Avion wants to celebrate local, active creators. There is a lot of creativity here in Umeå. We must invest in it and let it take its place," says an excited Jessica Arevärn.
The artwork will adorn one of the walls at Entrance 2. The painting will start on 12 March and run until 31 March.
Welcome to see Persikamy take the first brushstroke!
