The success of last year is back with a new round. Ten talented designers will take their designs from idea to prototype and finally small-scale production.
Summer eXpression 2018 is organized by Uminova eXpression to make visible, develop and connect young creators and talented producers in the Umeå region. We want to celebrate well-designed everyday objects and work towards a larger locally produced range of these types of products in the long term.
eX18 at the arts campus runs June-August with a break in July. During the first four weeks from 4-29 June, participants will visit producers and work on sketches and prototypes. They will have access to tutoring and Sliperiet equipment and labs. The final three weeks, 6-24 August, include training in entrepreneurship & pricing. This is when production takes place and the final event is a vernissage where the products developed are exhibited.
The programme includes coaching by Uminova eXpression, the opportunity to use Sliperiet's labs and studios and expert help from Margot Barolo (Beckmans, Konstfack, Barolo AB) and Johan Gustafsson (UID, Struktur Industridesign).
