IDA BJÖRSES PARTICIPATES IN 3DAYSOFDESIGN IN COPENHAGEN - LOOKING FOR NEW CO-AUTHORS

IDA BJÖRSES PARTICIPATES IN 3DAYSOFDESIGN IN COPENHAGEN - LOOKING FOR NEW CO-AUTHORS

During the design event 3daysofdesign in Copenhagen, designer Ida Björses participates with her carpet Bum in a pop up shop. This will take place together with 17 other young and established designers from Norr- and Västerbotten, within the framework of Arctic design of Sweden.

The carpet Bum she has developed during the eXpressions programme Summer eXpression and is inspired by nature and culture where one sits on the ground or floor. Bum is one of three objects that Ida has developed to show that you can think in new ways about how objects in everyday use are used and that there are alternative ways. Bum is a butt print and is meant to mimic the moss in nature.

We asked Ida Björses to answer five questions ahead of the design event.

How does it feel to participate with your own product at 3daysofdesign in Copenhagen?

- Super fun, interesting to participate with a new bunch of talented creators. It's always more fun and rewarding to exhibit as a group.

What are your expectations for these days?

- Find people and contacts who are interested in what I do, hopefully new collaborations. I'm waiting for tough assignments for bigger interiors and projects, that would be dreamy.

How did you come to apply to participate?

- I really like projects where I get to go and see new places and people. It's rewarding in so many different ways, I learn something new every time. Either about life or just getting new views and experiences which is always important to keep a creative brain going.

You are a young designer, tell us about some exciting projects/collaborations you have going on?

- I tuft carpets together with a woman called Karin Björklind. At home, she has looms and a tufting workshop, where we have just tufted a two-metre-long rug that is an interpretation of the seasons of the future, which we will exhibit at Gyllene Hinden after the summer.

- I also work with We Unite Design where we have a process together with children and redesign different environments using their creativity and ideas. Right now we are building a wooden hut for a classroom at Enbacksskolan in Tensta.

Are you packed?

- No, I do it the night before, one job at a time.

Arctic design of sweden a project whose main aim is to make design from Norr- and Västerbotten visible and to introduce design companies from the regions to a global market. Over three years, five pop up shops will be arranged abroad and the first is Copenhagen.

3daysofdesign is Denmark's annual design event where you can discover inspiring new concepts in lifestyle, lighting, furniture and interior design. Each year, a select group of brands from the Danish and international design scene come together to present their work as part of an exciting range of events taking place across Copenhagen. 3daysofdesign is open to the public, press, bloggers, traders, designers and enthusiasts from all over the world.
