Summer eXpression is a project initiated by the business incubator Uminova eXpression, which this spring is looking for ten talented students to work with local producers to develop new consumer goods and products. The students' creations will be available for sale and public viewing at an exhibition opening in August.
- Through this project, we want to turn students' creative ideas and design dreams into reality. In addition, we will have the opportunity to test new ways of working where students can develop their entrepreneurship while learning new production methods, says Barbro Renkel, business coach at Uminova eXpression. Summer eXpression is the name of the initiative from Uminova eXpression.
In the spring, the incubator called for students who wanted to turn their design ideas into reality together with local manufacturing companies such as GH Carpentry, Glödheta, Humlebäck and Löbe Granit. Now ten creative student talents - starting on 7 June - will work on developing their design from idea to finished product.
Supervisors during the summer are Margot Barolo, who runs Barolo AB and teaches form and product design at Beckman Design School, and Johan Gustafsson of Struktur Industridesign AB, who also teaches at Umeå University's School of Design.
- This is an exciting initiative that we look forward to participating in," say supervisors Margot Barolo and Johan Gustafsson. The project will conclude with an opening in August where the students' products will be on display and for sale. The selected students are:
Celine Strömbäck, Stockholm
Edvin Wahlström, Stockholm
Felicia Hjelmqvist, Lidköping
Frida Bergner, Östersund
Ida Björses, Stockholm
Johan Björn, Luleå
John Andersson, Sveg
Marzie Tangestani, Umeå
