A different Black Week with Eljest

A different Black Week with Eljest

As usual, the Eljest café and craft shop is going against the grain and offering an exclusive black coffee tasting during Black Week. The campaign is as much a stand for sustainable consumption as it is a natural part of the business - to like different, challenge prevailing norms and safeguard the Northern character.

We thought it would be fun to make Black Week into something northern that didn't have to be about mass consumption of unnecessary things. Consumption in itself is not a negative thing, but those of us who work in the retail and hospitality industries need to create the conditions so that our customers can make sustainable choices. We stand for locally produced goods and would rather offer a really nice and carefully selected product than promote a 'wear and tear' mentality," says Johan Hallberg at Eljest.

On Thursday and Friday, Eljest will offer visitors a mini-coffee tasting of black coffee made with different brewing methods using the same roast and beans - from a local coffee roastery, of course.

We are currently collaborating with Café Familie. It has proven to be popular and therefore we are excited to develop the concept further. It's fun to let our visitors try and experience new things. It's in our nature to try to be an eye-opener and broaden perspectives. It's something we try to build our business around," continues Johan

Since Ida Hillebjörk handed over Eljest to Johan Hallberg and Maria Forsgren last spring, the business has moved to the island with the ambition to develop into a sustainable visitor destination with a garden café, shop, web shop and conference facilities. Sustainability is a common thread throughout everything Eljest does, which is evident, not least in the choice of materials in their own products, who they seek collaborations with and in their menus.

We strive to make a difference and do good for the place we have chosen to live in. We cherish our heritage while striving to be open to new impressions, inclusive, inspiring and forward-looking. It's about daring to live out your dreams, go your own way and do what you truly believe in. This is the Norrland we want to be part of creating, which we love and are proud of," says Johan Hallberg.

Of course, Eljest takes great care to create a Corona-safe environment that follows the latest guidelines. In addition, the store offers special services in the form of outdoor delivery and the possibility to book the store for yourself.
