Miss Princified helps creators succeed with crowdfunding

After a successful crowdfunding campaign, songwriter and musician Hanna Ögren, or Miss Princified as she calls herself, had the idea to encourage and support other creators to do the same. Now she's launching a brand new online course to help musicians with crowdfunding.
- I want to show alternative ways to take control of your career and share my experience and knowledge," says Hanna.

Last summer, in the midst of the ongoing pandemic, Hanna Ögren ran a crowdfunding campaign where, with the support of her followers, she raised just over SEK 60,000. As a result, she released her first full-length solo album in November 2020.

It was a fun experience, quite demanding but as I said really fun and an amazing feeling when the campaign ended. A feeling that we did it together, me and my listeners, says Hanna.

In the spring of 2020, Hanna joined the eXpress programme and after the end of the year she continued her entrepreneurship by participating in the Creatives incubator programme at eXpression Umeå.

Recently, she has been working on designing online courses and webinars on the topic of crowdfunding.

I want to encourage other creators to dare to believe in themselves and trust that they own. I want to help like-minded people to take control of their creative careers. This will be done through coaching, lectures and trainings and the focus will be on how to create a career online, says Hanna.

Ever since she was 14, Hanna has been fascinated by the artist Prince. She got the name Miss Princified because she realised that her values and Prince's were very much the same.

It's about breaking norms, challenging established structures, going your own way, owning your music, believing in yourself and taking control of your career. I'm so sick of the jingoistic culture that shapes us from the moment we are born, especially women. You're told: don't stick out, don't take up space, don't think you're anything and so on. I want to turn that around. My father has always told me that I am remarkable, that I am worthy of being noticed, of being seen. We all are," says Hanna.

On 14 April, Miss Princified will host its first live webinar: How to create crowdfunding for your music project. Where she shares the knowledge and experience she has gained over the years.

I see so many freelance musicians and creators struggling now. The pandemic has really messed things up for cultural creators. I want to give all of them a chance to experience what I experienced this summer, to make dreams come true. I will share my best tips and tricks when it comes to crowdfundingHow, with the right methods, you can go straight to your audience, no matter how big or small, and together create the conditions for creative work," says Hanna.

The webinar will also be accompanied by the release of an online course aimed at all freelance musicians and creators who want to take control of their own careers.

Maybe you've lost motivation now that things are as they are, or maybe you're tired of sitting around waiting for that record deal to arrive in your mailbox. The course is not a quick-fix, but if you work strategically and methodically, it will pay off in the end, I can guarantee that," concludes Hanna Ögren.
