During Umeågalan's finalist release on P5 Tillkänna, all the finalists in the eleven award categories were announced. For the category "Cultural and creative company of the year" it is now clear that Lampray, World of Board Games and Mat och Event have the chance to become winners. We are now looking forward to the gala on 21 March!
We are proud to be able to recognise some of the most driven and talented entrepreneurs in the cultural and creative industries in our region. As usual, we want to highlight all nominees, but we in the jury have been in agreement and are satisfied with the outcome, says Barbro Renkel, CEO of eXpression Umeå and chair of the jury.
Here are the jury's justifications for the three finalists:
Lampray
With a distinctive body of work, Lampray has the ability to tell the story of our part of Sweden in an inclusive and creative way. The documentary EPA and the viral success Kung Fury are two examples that prove how, through innovative approaches and a great deal of creativity, they are raising themselves as a shining star on the Swedish film scene.
World of Board Games
World of Board Games unites both generations and cultures in Umeå by offering a creative hub for all kinds of board games and puzzles. They have managed to build something sustainable from scratch and are role models when it comes to combining a physical store with e-commerce. It is impossible not to be warmed by the passion that surrounds the company.
For Foodies / Food and Events
With strong drive and passion, Mat och Event creates gastronomic events that help put Umeå on the food map. They have managed the feat of being relevant to everyone from simple food lovers to professional food connoisseurs, not least through Umeå Taste Festival and Taste Walks - always with sustainability in focus.
- eXpression is also co-organiser of the "Innovative Company of the Year" award. The finalists for this award are: Enduce AB, Aeterna Labs and Elastisys.
