Since 1998, the design award and the exhibition Ung Svensk Form have showcased the best of the young design scene in Sweden. The application period for Ung Svensk Form 2020 has now opened and there are four new members on the jury.
The jury plays a central role in Ung Svensk Form. We are therefore delighted that the jury collectively has an incredibly broad design expertise and that it now has representatives from all over the country," says Karin Wiberg, project manager for Ung Svensk Form.
The new jury members for 2020 are:
Linnéa Therese Dimitriou - Artist and Artistic Director at Sliperiet, Umeå University.Nike Karlsson- Designer, IKEA,Caroline B. Le Bongoat- Strategic Business Developer & Operations Manager Design Malmö, City of Malmö andJohan Deurell- Curator, Röhsska Museum.
We spoke to Umeå-based Linnéa Therese Dimitriou, one of the new names on the jury this year. Linnéa brings with her experience from self-employment, consulting and academic teaching in design and visual communication. She is an artist and since 2014 artistic director at Sliperiet in Umeå.
I have followed Ung Svensk Form over the years and it felt natural to accept to be on the jury for 2020. USF is a fantastic platform for 'up and coming' designers where experimentation and innovation are rewarded. So I really hope that many creators from our region take the chance to apply, says Linnea Dimitriou.
She continues:
It will be super interesting to scan what's happening around Sweden, and I'm also looking forward to lively discussions with my fellow jurors. Personally, I want to see projects that are brave, intelligent and headstrong; that are rooted in and can take a swipe at craftsmanship and tradition as well as an analysis of our contemporary culture to surprise and challenge from there.

The Young Swedish Design competition is open to young designers working in Sweden or Swedish citizens working abroad. Designers born in 1983 or later are welcome to apply. Older applicants may participate if they are students at the time of application.
