NEW DESIGN PROGRAMME FOR YOUNG AND ESTABLISHED DESIGNERS

eXpression Design is a new program initiative developed for Umeå and the Region's established designers and design students. The aim is to give participants the opportunity to develop their products and strengthen their networks - both locally and globally level. The initiative is a collaboration between eXpression Umeå, det kreativa network High Coast Creative, Företagarna and Örnsköldsvik municipality.

eXpression Design, a cross-county design programme which is aimed at both established and young designers who have the ambition to develop themselves and their products, increase collaboration between designers and producers and to reach out internationally. The programme offers, among other things creative meeting places, prototype workshops with new digital tools, and a platform to find more markets and develop local production on the an international arena.

eXpression Design aims to make visible, develop and designers and talented producers in the region. Contacts paves the way for new innovations as well as businesses.

At the start of the programme, the name of the programme was changed from Summer eXpression to eXpression Design and broadened to run year-round.

We are broadening the programme to open up to more people, we want to celebrate well-designed everyday objects and hope that the programme will generate more locally produced and well-designed products. We also hope that the programme will act as a springboard for further entrepreneurship," says Barbro Renkel, program manager eXpression Design, Umeå. As before, students from aesthetic education will be able to apply and attend the programme during the summer, the programme is adapted to continue developing as a young designer during the coming year.

On 29 January, the programme opens up to students to apply with the programme starting in June 2020.
