Through eXpression Design, industrial designer Elin Molander looks forward to moving from idea to action. Developing and launching a product that is available for sale and that in turn leads to the creation of her own company. We talked to Elin about design and the future.
Tell us about your company and your creativity.
I think I've always been a bit defiant (least among siblings) where I've always wanted to challenge old ways of thinking and love the feeling of when you feel like anything is possible. I have a belief that you must also design your own future and so it is fitting that in conjunction with joining eXpression Design I am starting my own business. To be able to design my own opportunities to work on what I am passionate about - Being a more free designer, creator and the ability to dream bigger.
When do you think design is at its best?
Good design for me is when design comes out of a kind of playfulness, when you try something new and feel that you have thought outside the box.
What are you most looking forward to with eXpression design?
What I look forward to most about being part of eXpression design is being in the creative bubble with other dreamy designers who want more. That we can brainstorm ideas together and be part of that process with others. My dream as a designer has always been to be able to walk into a store and be able to see a product I created and point "...I made that one". THAT is my goal and what eXpression design makes possible for me.
Can you give any clues as to what you think we'll see at the launch in May?
In May, you will be able to see me realise my dream and my goal to take a product to production that YOU can share with me. Hope you want to join me on this journey!
