eXpression Umeå is a new member of the EU project DeFINE. The aim of the project is to strengthening European cooperation and networking for the purpose of to develop innovations in textiles, fashion andretail technology.  

DeFINE's network consists of incubators, accelerators, start-ups, SMEs and financiers. The aim of the network is to share cross-sectoral knowledge where ideas can grow and create competitive and sustainable fashion companies in Europe. On the project website, anyone who wishes to join the community can do so and share knowledge in the field through a matchmaking function.  

By being part of the DeFiINE network, we strengthen local creators' opportunities for international collaboration. It is also a gateway to European support and funding for eXpression companies. We make our positioning in textiles, fashion and retail visible both nationally and Europe-wide, says Barbro Renkel, CEO of eXpression Umeå. 

Networking is a central part of the DeFINE project and its members span across much of Europe. In Sweden, the network consists of eXpression Umeå, Borås INK, BizMaker, Ahouse Ark and the Swedish Fashion Council. The project website lists all participating organisations to help visitors quickly find the activity they are looking for and get in touch with the right person.The website with the map and also the community created by the DeFINE project will live on even after the project ends. 

In addition to the community with matchmaking function and listing of supporting organisations, through the DeFINE project startups can take part in international networking & investment events and apply for mentoring programmes.
