Digital vernissage
Summer eXpression 2022
For seven weeks, ten designers worked on taking their idea to a finished product - now you can see the results. Take a stroll through the digital showroom and discover the products and the ideas behind them. The production has taken place in close collaboration with local manufacturers and during the autumn all objects will be available for sale at Designtorget.

Lyktstople
The lamppost is a reflection on something that has a great impact on our well-being, light. Our increased knowledge about awareness, presence and its relation to our well-being means that we are now starting to desire more than just efficiency in our surroundings. The lamppost was therefore created to highlight that light should be designed to induce good behaviours in our everyday lives, both for ourselves and others. It is there to remind us to be present to see what is beautiful around us, in the light and in the dark.

Chanterelle
Inspired by Swedish nature and craftsmanship, Kantarell is a daily reminder of how amazing the forest can be. It is intended to be worn as a key chain with a reassuring weight so it is always clear that the keys are there.

WREATH
Wreath is a decorative stand that can be used to dry herbs and flowers. You can decorate it with seasonal finds, herbs you've grown or even parts of a bouquet?
It creates a space for plants to sit and hang while they dry. The wreath also works well as a mere decoration on the wall and the glossy surface brings life to its surroundings by reflecting light and movement.

ø19
About 6 kilometres west of Umeå and 63 kilometres north of Stockholm - in the county of Västerbotten and inland Norrland is Sweden's smallest municipality in terms of population, Bjurholm. This is where Erik lives and works together with his 4 employees at Automattolerans AB. Ø19 is a tribute to Erik and his colleagues, Sweden's small municipalities, Norrland inland and its small industries.
Thanks for the coffee Erik!

N I M I G L Y P H
N I M I G L Y P H is an exploration. The project is a play on the white tablecloth as a symbol of celebration, representation and etiquette, and those aspects of the home that are not considered appropriate to display. In parallel with the design process for the pattern, I have developed a technique for pressing the fabric, the effect being imprints in the cloth, like traces of a past event. The name is an invented combination of N I M I S - too much, and G L Y P H - writing, sculpture, ornament.

Crawl-in
Kryp-in is a mulch box for children. For most people, 'mulch' is something completely new. Mulch is the mixture of leaves, sawdust and other forest materials that the den is filled with. When placed in the garden or on the balcony, it serves as a home for many species - mainly beetles. Kryp-in is a clear and playful den, which aims to channel children's love of cryptic bugs into a learning opportunity about different species. It is based on drawings by biologist Nicklas Jansson.

The cut flower
The "Cut Flower" shot glass is designed to decorate the table like a flower. The cut flower is laid horizontally on the tablecloth, in the napkin ring or upside down, standing on its cup.
PARTNERS: Eva Juneblad, Röbäck Glass & Clay
DESIGNER: Linnéa Lindman, amlinnealindman@gmail.com
TAURUS
Inspired by a northern forest star. The lamp and candle holder are unique in their design language and designed to function as a sculpture in itself even when the light is not lit. When the candle burns, mirrored reflections are created in the sheet metal that spread throughout the room during dark autumn and winter evenings. The magnetic candle cup with space for both tealight and chandelier, provides a simple, playful and flexible use.

THE NEIGHBOURHOOD
"Nose opener". The nose. Forgotten. Overlooked. The nose sits in the centre of the face, yet we take it for granted. But now it is given its rightful place. Honoured in the way it deserves.

Bockviken
Sometimes a table, sometimes a shelf. Sturdy materials and stylish design. Easy to turn away when you need the space for something else.

What is Summer expression?
For one summer, young creators are given the chance to take their design from idea to finished product. The work is done in close cooperation with skilled producers in the Umeå region and experts in business development. The programme helps participants deepen their understanding and practical application of key elements of the design and manufacturing process, while developing their entrepreneurial skills and business acumen - two important aspects of success as a designer. The programme concludes with an exhibition and sale at our partner Designtorget.
