Start of eXpression Design in Örnsköldsvik

Start of eXpression Design in Örnsköldsvik

Finally it was time for this year's eXpression Design programme to start in Örnsköldsvik. The twelve accepted creatives met at OffCoff for an introduction to the programme, a workshop on idea generation and an inspiring lecture on the theme "From part-time to full-time" with Arash Eskafi and Thomas Torninger from HAHA Studio. The aim of the programme is to spend eight months learning more about the design process and product creation, moving from idea to finished locally produced product, and networking with other creators and local manufacturers.

On Wednesday 14 October, twelve excited creators gathered at OffCoff in Örnsköldsvik for the start of the eXpression Design programme, and it was a truly inspiring start with a lecture by Arash Eskafi and Thomas Torninger from HAHA Studio. They generously shared useful lessons from their own design journey, about how they manage their production and how they strategically do their inbound sales. A great preparation and inspiration for the twelve participants who are now starting their design journey. By the end of the programme, they will have turned an idea into a finished product, made locally in the area. Along the way to the finished product, they will gain knowledge about the design process, sales and marketing, among other things.

I am eagerly looking forward to learning! Both to learn how to prototype in the labs at eXpression, but also to gain more business skills, says the creator Christina Josefsson.

During the programme, the creators will also be able to visit and make contacts with local manufacturers, something the ceramist Anna-Karin Rask Nygren looking forward to:

When you're working on your craft every day, it's fun to challenge yourself with a new material, and to try new techniques. It always gives new inspiration for your own craft too.

The programme will run until the last week of May 2021 and will end with the launch of the locally produced products.

It is with eager anticipation that I look forward to seeing what these amazing creators will come up with in collaboration with the manufacturers in the area. It couldn't have been a better start than the lecture by HAHA Studio, where the creators really picked up a lot of great tips and advice along the way," says Maria Persson, program manager eXpression Design in Örnsköldsvik.

The twelve creators accepted for this year's eXpression Design in Örnsköldsvik are:
