Umeå is one of the six cities that have made it to the finals of the European Capital of Innovation award.
The winner - European Capital of Innovation 2018 - will be announced on 6 November at the Web Summit in Lisbon, Portugal. The city with the best ecosystem for innovation will win €1 million (just over €10 million) to be used to scale up innovation activities.
The other five finalist cities are Aarhus in Denmark, Athens in Greece, Hamburg in Germany, Leuven in Belgium and Toulouse in France.
