Incubator-linked designers win prestigious textile prize

It was announced yesterday that the design and sustainability company Beskow von Post has won the Design S - Swedish Design Awards in the textile category. They are being honoured for the upcycling project "From waste to wonder" where they recycled workwear for the company Elis. Beskow von Post has previously been part of the national business development programme NEST where eXpression is a proud co-organiser.

In 2022, Beskow von Post received five tonnes of discarded workwear from the textile services company Elis. The discarded trousers became new recycled jackets for the company's sales staff to use - a unisex shirt jacket, practical and timeless. The jacket is a natural entry point for salespeople to talk about the company's sustainability efforts. Each jacket is made from about five pairs of work trousers that would otherwise have been discarded.

Yesterday, the company was recognised for its work at the Design S - Swedish Design Awards. Where they won the prize in the textile category.

Beskow von Post is design and sustainability in one. The company's founders, Susanne Beskow and Caroline von Post, are senior experts in sustainability, circular economy and upcycling design. Through previous companies, they have experience in innovation and upcycling of both industrial and consumer textiles.

The company has been part of the national business development programme NEST, of which eXpression is a co-organiser.

ABOUT DESIGN S

Design S - Swedish Design Awards is Sweden's premier and broadest design award. The award is run by Svensk Form and is aimed at professional designers, designers, architects, individual practitioners, producers and companies that work with design and form in a broad sense.

The competition serves many purposes: as a concrete starting point for discussions on design, sustainability and innovation, but also as an inspiration for businesses and public decision-makers to use design to increase growth, competitiveness and welfare.
