On Wednesday morning, the fifth edition of the Young Startup Day was held, which aims to inspire secondary school students and young entrepreneurs to pursue entrepreneurship. The event consists of a stage programme where existing entrepreneurs talk about their entrepreneurial journey, including Tobias Sedlacek, CEO and founder of Team Scandi.

The Weaving Stage was visited during the morning by 290 young people entrepreneurs with the aim of being inspired by current entrepreneurs. First keynote speaker on stage was fashion entrepreneur Tobias Sedlacek who founded and runs the company Team Scandi. The company designs clothes and accessories with Scandinavian connection, has in recent years collaborated with Humana Jeans and received great feedback for its products from Rebecca & Fiona, among others.

It feels good to be able to share my lessons from running a business and hopefully it can encourage someone to dare to invest in their business idea," says Tobias Sedlacek.

But Tobias' entrepreneurial journey began long before Team Scandi through a ski collective that grew out of his youthful interest in skiing. Tobias that The Bunch, the ski collective, was made up of good friends who shared interest in skiing and filming skiing. Initially there was no commercial purpose of the collective but after several great skiers and brands noticed their films, they discovered that they could charge for their hobby.

After The Bunch, Tobias continued working in the ski industry for a few years before starting Studio & Gallery, which evolved into Team Scandi.

Other speakers at Young Startup Day included Ishtar Touailat, who has been named the female leader of the future and Sweden's most powerful businesswoman. Roland Carlsson awarded a scholarship to Johnny Jin for his achievements as a UF-entrepreneur in the previous academic year and also presented the nominated companies for Young Entrepreneur of the Year at Umeågalan, 84 grams, Ekonomikollen and Mowida.

Young Startup Day is organised every year to inspire to entrepreneurship. The next generation of entrepreneurs is a key group for Umeå and Västerbotten to continue to grow. To strengthen this development, we need even more people to start and run businesses.
