Stina Wallin is a garden designer who is passionate about creating gardens for all seasons. By trying different methods, timeless materials and plant combinations, she aims to design inspiring gardens for the whole family. The lack of sustainable plant supports has led her to make her own products, something she is developing during her participation in eXpression Design 21/22.
Tell us about your company and your creativity.
Norrträdgårdens Design designs gardens and manufactures plant supports and garden decorations in metal. Collaborates with L-entreprenad, which, among other things, builds gardens and manufactures corten products. I often get lost in my creativity - forgetting time and space. It's fun to try new things in life whether it's creating, travelling or driving an excavator. I am curious about life and want to know - not necessarily know everything. Don't like it when it "rubs me the wrong way" - would like, for me, to find the right way in what I do. Happy to try out different materials and methods. In my 22 years as a gardener I have had time to try different plant combinations and styles, eventually I found the right one.
What is it about gardening that attracts you?
The freedom to mix colours and shapes and to find the style of a garden is inspiring. It's like having painted a picture that you can then step into. The painting becomes reality - a wonderful feeling! Creating a garden for all seasons and all family members and their needs and interests can be a challenge. But oh so much fun! My clients are often completely uninterested in gardening but want their yard to be beautiful with functional areas.
In today's market, I feel that there is a lack of durable and good quality plant supports. That's why I started to make my own. The demand grew and so did my interest in this. So then it also became garden decorations.
How do you see the future of your company?
In autumn 2022, I will start working exclusively on my business. Together with Formskaparna I will open a garden shop, café and garden plots here in Hörnefors where I live. My self-designed products will also be sold in the shop.
Can you give any clues as to what you think we'll see at the launch in May?
Durable, useful and timeless.
